About Lamb's Loft

Thank you for visiting us on our web site, we really appreciate your time and interest.

A little history of Lamb's Loft...

Lamb's Loft was established by Dawn Lamb in 1987 in a small building on a main highway north of Wilmington, Delaware. Two years later, Lamb's Loft moved to Claymont, a growing community just south of the Pennsylvania border. Located in a grand historic building, The Overlook, located just off the main highway, Lamb's Loft sits atop a hill overlooking the Delaware River. It is the anchor building at the main entrance to the Overlook Colony Development in Claymont, the oldest planned development in the state of Delaware.

Built by General Chemical Company in 1917, its initial use was for an elementary school and community hall. Through the years it has been used for many things such as wedding receptions; a meeting place known as Red Man's Hall, celebrating the life of the Lenni-Lenape Indians; hardware store; and barber shop, just to name a few.

Dawn Lamb, owner of Lamb's Loft

Currently the building is home to Lamb's Loft, other businesses and five apartments. It is owned by Tom & Edith Lamb (Dawn's Parents) and Dawn. Through much prayer, dedication, sweat and tears, the building has been completely renovated over the years, bringing the building back to its original splendor. [Update: During the summer and fall of 2007, Tom and Edith decided that it was time for them to sell their share of the partnership. Dawn is currently in the market to find a new partner in owning The Overlook building and assist in running the business of the property. If you are interested, please contact Dawn.]

Lamb's Loft is a very large shop filled with over 3500 square feet of practical and unique treasures on three different levels and all under one roof. Most of the treasures are gently used, ranging in size from as small as a thimble to the size of a large dinette set. The shop is divided into 20 categorized spaces, each with their own theme and corresponding unique merchandise. For example, a vintage kitchen space is filled with kitchen furniture, gadgets, appliances, dishes, cookbooks, etc. all from the 1930's through the 1950's.
